Vaalkop Water Treatment Plant

The Vaalkop Water Treatment Plant area of supply stretches from Rustenburg to Thabazimbi and the plant supplies four water schemes namely; Northam, Southern from Vaalkop to Bospoort and Rustenburg, Western from Vaalkop to Phatsima and Eastern from Vaalkop to Bethanie. These include the following major consumers, Thabazimbi Local Municipality, Moses Kotane, Rustenburg Local Municipality, Royal Bafokeng Administration, Royal Bafokeng Platinum Mines, Xtrata (SA Chrome), Amandabuldt (Anglo Platinum), Swartklip Mine, Pretoria Portland Cement, Northam Platinum and Impala Platinum.

Wallmannsthal Water Treatment Plant

All consumers in the Wallmannsthal area of supply fall within the boundaries of Nokeng Tsa Taemane Local Municipality. Magalies Water has direct bulk water supply agreements with 31 consumers including Nokeng Tsa Taemane LM, and 53 individual consumers (households) in the Wallmannsthal supply area. Magalies Water will have to ensure that the contractual agreements with all consumers in the Wallmannsthal area of supply are in accordance with Nokeng Tsa Taemane’s requirements and conditions.

Consumers sourcing water from Wallmannsthal plant include Nokeng Tsa Taemane Local Municipality, South African National Defence Force (SANDF), Biviaanspoort Correctional Services, Government institutions such as Department of Public Works, the research institutions at Roodeplaat Dam including the Agricultural Research Council (ARC). Various individual households are also supplied along the pipeline routes on behalf of Nokeng Tsa Taemane.

Cullinan Water Supply Scheme

All consumers in the area fall within the jurisdiction of Nokeng Tsa Taemane Local Municipality. Magalies Water has direct bulk water supply agreements with 3 bulk consumers. The bulk water consumers include Nokeng Tsa Taemane LM, Cullinan Diamond Mine, Zonderwater Correctional Services and other several individual small consumers in the Cullinan water supply area. Magalies Water remains the bulk supplier to the three current bulk consumers. Nokeng Tsa Taemane will proceed with the process of approving private water supply schemes in the area where Magalies Water can act as a direct bulk supplier. Magalies Water will have to ensure that contractual agreements with all consumers in the Cullinan area of supply are in accordance with Nokeng Tsa Taemane’s requirements and conditions.

Klipdrift Water Supply Scheme

Consumers sourcing their water supply from the Klipdrift Water Purification Plant are within both the Limpopo and Gauteng provinces. Magalies Water has concluded some agreements with consumers including a number of water services authorities, namely; Modimolle LM, Bela-Bela LM, City of Tshwane   (for Babelegi Industrial area, Hammanskraal West, Mandela Village, Ramotse and Marogolong), Moretele Local Municipality ( for Steve Biko Gardens). Furthermore, a number of smaller individual consumers are being supplied directly from Magalies Water along the pipeline routes on behalf of Municipalities.

The Temba Water Treatment Plant is operated and managed by Magalies Water on behalf of the City of Tshwane (CoT). The plant mainly supplies water to Local communities of the CoT in the Temba/Hammanskraal and surrounding rural areas, Moretele Local Municipality and the Babelegi industrial area. The plant is operated through the Temba Roodeplaat Water Services Trust in accordance with the agreement with CoT. The Trust (ABSA, Bigen Africa, Magalies Water and CoT) has a water supply agreement with CoT and that has entered into a Water Supply Agreement with Moretele Local Municipality.
